Hey, guys! I have a contest thing to help me decide what movie I should review at Butterfly Forest. There is more info over there, so I suggest you check it out! I’m choosing next week, and I will not be taking any more entries after July 28, 2009, 11:59:59 PST. Hurry and enter!

Also, I will, again, be gone this weekend to camp. Au revoir!

edit: Also, take the poll below! I’m sort of wondering whether this was a good idea (I know, I sound so wishy-washy), so please choose one of the radio buttons and submit!

I feel like I’m doing just that as far as blogging goes, especially since I’ve been so busy with class. I’ve been doing homework, studying, reading, tweeting…those are the MAIN things that I do.

I’m going to yearbook camp next weekend, but I may have Internet access daily there and may still be able to tweet. As far as blogging goes…well, it’ll be a little “sporadic”. 😛 Not that that’s uncommon, as most of you know, but I won’t even be trying to post weekly. I’m hoping to post at least three times a month until class slows, I get APUSH done, and my schedule isn’t so hectic and busy. That won’t be until probably the last week or two of August.

In the meantime, in between homework, studying, reading, and tweeting, I’m going to do some major blog maintenance (now that, I have been doing 🙂 , though it’s been pretty unnoticeable; it’s not anything dramatic, but I’ve been starting a different tag system, since tags have been bugging me for a bit now), writing stuff, making Survey Monkey surveys, and…

I’m going to ask you guys a favor.

This: speaking of surveys, what do you think I can improve while I “maintain” my blogs?

Okay. If you don’t want to answer that (and it’s perfectly fine if you don’t), is anyone here interested in doing a guest blog either on here or on Butterfly Forest? And if you’re thinking, “But Butterfly Forest is like…dead,” I must contradict you. I’m planning (and this, I also am not overpromising) on trying to expand my blog so that I don’t get “occasional” readers.

Speaking of which, stop on over at Butterfly Forest. I’m putting up some new posts, and they’re like update thingies. Quite fun, I must say, and decreases the massive space in between reviews. 😛

w00t, w00t! Go, Lisa Mantchev!! (And Other Random Updates) July 3, 2009

EVERYONE has been buzzing about Eyes Like Stars–Lisa Mantchev’s debut novel. And I’m sure that if you’re dying to get your hands on this one (like me), you’ve read the synopsis a dozen times already. So I won’t post it again.

BUT.

There are contest giveaways for it!! Everywhere! (Well, maybe not everywhere, but, ya know, in more than one place. 😉 )

If you haven’t heard of it or are not sure whether to read it, put it on your list now. My friend won a special copy from the author herself, and said it was FANTASTIC.

So…where can you win this oh-so-coveted book?

  • Ennalee!! Dearest Enna Isilee of Squeaky Books is holding a lovely giveaway right here. Click, blog, comment. Easy. But if you live in Antarctica, Ennalee can’t send it to you. You must be in the U.S. 🙂
  • Traveling to Teens. I just found this site a few minutes ago, and lookie! An ELS giveaway! Click, blog, comment, follow. Simple, right?

I am totally addicted to WordPress numbers and bullets now. Huh. I have weird penchants.

Anyhow, today I’m going to the beach to see some yearbook staffers. Yay! I miss yearbook. 😦 And…not much else to update except:

  • I’m an official Facebook addict.
  • I finished The Penderwicks!
  • I made this new system where I label absolute favorites “platinum”, favorites in general “gold, and close to favorites “silver”. The Penderwicks would be a silver; it’s REALLY good. I hope to write a review (haha, posting??? I’ll…fit it into my schedule somehow.)
  • I’m starting a review journal, since I’m so behind on reviews. One review blogger (I forget who) said she does that for professional reviews, and I thought that since my reviews are getting close to professional reviews (in style, not in reality 😛 ), I should do the same. It’s helpful to log all your thoughts in about novels. 🙂
  • I updated some stuff on Butterfly Forest! Check out the directory page!
  • I’m in the middle of (somewhat crazily editing) Heaven’s Stars. It’s so corny, but so old-fashioned, simple, cutesy, and innocent. Maybe that’s why I like it so much. 🙂
  • I really am addicted to these bullet points/numbers. 😛

Hasta luego,

♥BB

P.S. Oh, and happy Fourth of July everybody. I’m going to see my family tomorrow; it’s also my uncle’s birthday. 🙂 I think it was Louis Armstrong’s birthday, too, right?

P.P.S. Speaking of awesome authors and cool giveaways, check out Maggie Stiefvater’s trailer for her upcoming novel Shiver! She made it herself, composed the music, played the music, did the art…and, of course, wrote the book! Enjoy!

I Promise, I’m Not a Flake. June 24, 2009

I promised I’d do blog maintenance. I didn’t.

I promised I’d write more reviews and post them. I didn’t.

I promised I’d write a blog post about my sophomore year. Didn’t do that either. Didn’t start writing a WORD of it.

And I promised I’d record myself singing my own song. Which I DID do. And failed. My microphone stinks. Terribly.

So besides discovering the fact that I’m a singer-songwriter failure, what DID I do this whole weekend?

I promise, I’m not a flake. But I was busy.

  1. I watched Up, and that’s a HUGE deal for me because I NEVER go to the theaters unless it’s Harry Potter or a movie my family or I was DYING to see. In this case, obviously it was the latter (though I AM going to see a certain movie July 15…PSYCHED!). I don’t think I even saw a single movie at the theater last year. Sigh.
  2. I finished Enna Burning. Now THAT ought to be something worth not blogging for a whole weekend, right? And I have yet to write the review for it (and I pinky-promise I will…before the year is out, at least 😛 ), but allow me to tell you now that I love it. I’m currently obsessing over it still. Kind of like I did after I read Book of a Thousand Days (though I’m not at the point of naming anything having to do with fire, haha), and a bit more than I did after finishing Princess Academy. But I love it. If somehow you randomly popped up onto my blog and are reading this and thinking, “Who the hey is this nerdy freak?”, read it, and you will understand. 😉
  3. I started River Secrets. Not that that took so much time (I just started the second chapter 😛 ), but I really, really love it so far. I think the Books of Bayern get better and better by the book!
  4. The biggie…SAT prep classes. I took my first test Monday and pretty much failed (I got a 1700). Then I had to do corrections (do you know how long that would take if you missed that many questions?? Plus, I stayed up until almost three o’ clock in the morning doing it, did some before lunch, and finished up a tiny bit more on the way there), and the next day (Tuesday), I got more homework. I didn’t have class today (phew), and haven’t started homework yet, since it’s not due until next week. But I have been studying and will be starting homework either later today or tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the last class of the week, and I’m praying for now more homework.
  5. The thought of other things I must do…like APUSH notes, which I haven’t even started yet. Sigh.

So, as you can see, I was PLENTY busy. I hope I can still blog, read, review, and have a NORMAL life this summer. As of now, it’s not looking very pretty. I guess I’ll just have to try to do better on Monday tests. 😛

AND I got a Facebook. I am psyched. That’s another thing that has been diverting my attention away from blogging and stuff. Ha.

♥BB

P.S. I’m making a Facebook quiz (one that will actually have intellectual substance, unlike most of the ones that you’ll find on there 😛 ) called something akin to “Which Shannon Hale Character Are You Most Like?”. I’m thinking of doing just the leading ladies and our swoonable guys, but I need your help. I just need a few adjectives that you’d describe the following characters’ PERSONALITIES as:

  • Ani/Isi
  • Geric
  • Enna
  • Finn
  • Razo
  • Dasha
  • Miri
  • Peder
  • Dashti
  • Tegus

Can’t wait to hear your responses! 😀

Blogging Hybernation…and Other News June 14, 2009

As much as I’d very much like to go right back into my blogging mojo, I just can’t. My conscience (which, you may care to know, is named Hermione Granger) is telling me that I have five finals coming up next week and I better get cracking on four of them. So I must undergo a blogging hybernation, but I would love to blog more than once a week. *glares angrily at Hermione* But I shall be back on Friday.

Actually, scratch that. I will, but I won’t. I’m going to private this blog–as well as Butterfly Forest–for some major blog maintenance (or at least, I hope to do so). Don’t freak out (like don’t think I’m blocking off my blog to the world or something, ha), just keep coming back and checking. When they do reopen, I should have several new sections, no new layout (because I love this layout; the header picture just totally fits in with the quote up top), but two new posts on here (one will be privated, the other will be explaining why it is privated) and a new review (with another following) on Butterfly Forest.

And then…SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, I just canNOT wait for that horrible, ear-tearing beautiful bell to ring at last (though it will be, I must admit, bittersweet). I already have a to-do list, and since this is my little corner of the net to ramble, I shall lay out my to-do list right here, right now.

  • Blog maintenance (as just stated)
  • Karoke (because I haven’t used my karoke machine in over a year now 😛 😦 )
  • Write a TON of reviews
  • Read the thirty-nine books that I’ve kept for years now and that have been patiently waiting on my shelf
  • E-mail everyone I meant to e-mail (I’m so, so, so, so, so sorry to everyone who has been e-mailing me, but Hermione someone has been banning me from doing so)
  • E-mail my portfolio project to everyone who helped (because, as I have previously stated in other posts, you all ROCK!!!!!!)
  • Call all of my friends (and probably end up talking for hours on end) and finish up a video with animeactress (girly, we need to talk!! 😀 )
  • After June 30, take a trip to the bookstore to “restock”, and try to figure out how to snag amazing ARCs (and if I don’t like them…well, maybe I will give them away on Goodreads or hold contests over at Butterfly Forest for anyone who wants them, haha)
  • Netflix for the whole summer (w00t! w00t! My family and I NEED to finish I Dream of Jeannie!!)
  • Figure out how to get to interview authors
  • Manage my Goodreads to-read list
  • Edit my stories so that they are at least somewhat presentable to all my friends who requested copies of them
  • Make my “Portable Mini-Quote Wall” where I include inside jokes, quotes, and conversations from LRRH, Twitter, yearbook, and other random places (I will need your help on this one)
  • Figure out more books I want to-read
  • Do some amazingly cool picture editing stuff like what Delaney is PRO at
  • Add lyrics to my iTunes library (because that would be AMAZING to have the lyrics to some of my songs on my iPod)
  • Get back on the treadmill and bike over the weekends, since I am officially not sick anymore
  • YEARBOOK CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

So, as you can see, I will have an amazing summer. As long as these (see below) don’t spoil it.

  • SAT Prep camp (which is three times a week, about five hours each session *already feels worn out*)
  • Trig/PreCal tutoring
  • Driver’s ed
  • APUSH summer assignment of five chapters (which, thankfully, I’ve already read, back a few months ago) all HAND-WRITTEN 😮

Hm. I’m quite convinced there was more than that. Oh well. I’d like to think that’s all there is, when there is a whole bunch more fun stuff I will be doing this summer.

But first things first. Finals. Better get back to studying for them now. What finals are you all (or did you all, for those of you whose summer vacation already began, and phoo on you for your summer starting beforehand *is jealous*) take this year? Wish me luck! 😀

♥BB

P.S. I know I said I would leave, but I just had to do this now. Reviewer X is having this fantastic giveaway of Lisa Mantchev’s debut novel, Eyes Like Stars. She just made a “Pub Story” about Lisa here, but you can enter in the fun here. Good luck! 😀

That’s what it is. Man, I HATE going back to school after a nice, relaxing vacation!! Ah, well…at least I get to see all my friends more often now. I’m trying to be a little optimistic and a litte less pessimistic and cynical. 😉

As a side note…this blog is, if you haven’t noticed already, ALIVE. A-L-I-V-E. It’s ACTIVE. You can tag me, and I’ll do the meme. BB AND HER BLOGS ARE NOT DEAD. I think I’ve lost some readers over the months that I was gone, so please be aware this is now active. And if you know someone who used to read my blog and stopped because they thought all my blogs died, please let him or her know they are all alive. If they are interested in reading more about BB, that is. 😉

I LOVED Easter break!! I got to write four different songs…no, wait…FIVE!! FIVE songs! w00t! 😀 That is truly happy-making. 😀 I posted one already. A few of you I know saw it (I have spies…on WordPress. They’re called Stats. 😀 ), and I would just love feedback on it. If you still don’t have my amazing passwork to unlock the secret door to my song lyrics, I will gladly give it to you via e-mail or LRRH PMs. 😀 If you don’t want to share it under comments, you can simply e-mail me (e-mails on the sidebar, as always). Guys, no comments makes me feel like there is some sort of awkward silence. 😦 So please…say something. Anything. You can even write a paragraph about chocolate chip cookies. Or just write “DAFFODILS!!!!”. I don’t care. Just please…make me feel like I’m not talking to myself (which is one reason I took a blog break). Anyway, but for those of you who did read my song (there are a couple of you I gave an early viewing to; THANK YOU!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! 😀 ), but I just wrote one that is one of my favorites. If you’d like an “early viewing” (like an ARC of a book, I guess I could call it…I dunno, an AVSL–Advanced Viewing of Song Lyrics, although it makes me sound like some distinguished songwriter, which I am not. I still need to polish my songwriting skills, which aren’t very good to begin with), e-mail me!! Talk to me, people, talk to me!! 😀 😉

Ok, fourth order of business: I want you guys to vote. Not like for a government position or whatever, but for a book. I need help on what to review next, but I have a lot in mind! Here’s the poll:

Also, for yearbook, I had told you all on LRRH that I’m working on a portfolio. However, I need you all to help me on something else; I need some people to survey. So if you’d like to participate, please leave a comment (you don’t have to put your e-mail down, unless you are certain I don’t know it and that you are not under a WordPress account and you are using a fake e-mail like abc@123.net.) OR e-mail me!!

Thanks, everyone!!!!!!! 😀

Maybe. I’m not so sure why, but I’m just not into blogging–and at times even going on LRRH–as of late. So just to let you all know that BBT is definitely going to be slowing down. It’s just that there’s not much to talk about, and, like I said before, a lot of the stuff I say is “blah blah blah”, “yada yada”–things not fit for classy readers like yourselves.

As for B1000….well, I shall try to post more on that this wkend, and for those of you who asked to be invited (Faith, Verity, Anilee, spider), I have sent all of you an invite. It’s never too late to ask to be invited, so you can still contact me (or leave a comment). Thanks to all who asked to be invited. 😀

BF? I’m still working on the album review, and…well, I just have to finish it. Sorry for another long wait, you guys.

Oh yes, and LRRH? I’ll still be going on, but I’m going to slow my visits. You know how often I used to go on before? Like 30-40 some times! Today? I only felt like going on once–I caught up with everything, and that was that. I’m still going to be responding to PMs and such that, but I just won’t go on LRRH so much.

TTYL!

I have done it! I am actually 100% fully satisfied with my review blog, which is new and improved! Woohoo! You can find it here: http://bookbutterflyangel.wordpress.com/. Me love it! How do y’all like it? Does it have any “potential” you think? How’s the template? what about the poem up top?

On a last note, we got our first Netflix movies of the summer today! We got Miss Potter, Becoming Jane, and No Reservations!! w00t! w00t! I’m having a very good wk. *mrgreen here*
