Do say something funny so she can laugh! July 10, 2009

Posted by bookbutterfly in blogs and blogging, books, friends, holidays, movies, quizzes, school and other academic stuff, websites, writings.

I pulled this off from Goodreads, though the original quote is “Now, do say something funny so she can admire!” It’s from River Secrets, and as most of you probably already know, I’m reading it right now, but I haven’t yet got to the part where that quote is but it just randomly stuck in my head because it fits so well with what I want to say.

First of all, I have been swamped (and I know I haven’t used that word sparingly, but I really, honestly do mean that this time) with work, and really cannot keep this up on a regular twice or three times a week basis. But also, I’m just a bit stressed at the moment. Well, actually, quite stressed.

I won’t go into details, but allow it to suffice to say that I’m in need of a break which I cannot get ahold of, and I feel like I’m just going up and down with everything.

And I feel guilty. I shouldn’t complain. It’s summer. I’m on vacation. And despite all the work I’ve had to do, I’ve had some of my own share of fun. I’ve been watching a LOT of movies. I’ve been staying up reading. I’ve made it a habit to stay up so late that two in the morning is quite early for me now. Especially after this week I stayed up until five twice.

And why am I complaining? I have good movies, good books, good websites, good blogs to read (which I haven’t lately; I have four hundred fifty unread items on Google Reader, but most of it is probably because I subscribe to three different Harry Potter fan sites, and you know how much buzz there is right now. Plus, I have so many of those interviews and fun Harry Potter stuff, so it’s still counted as unread. I don’t just zip through it and really take it in, you know.), writing that I want to do (including some quizzes and reviews! Funness!) and…good friends! So, that’s why I’m turning to you guys. Since I haven’t seen a single friend since school got out (except for a couple friends from my old school who are sisters that I got to talk to for a bit after Mass one day because they also happened to attend church at the same time), I’m asking you guys for a bit of help. This should be easy though.

As the title of this post states, I want something amusing. Funny. They could be articles, videos, songs, something Harry Potter related would be nice… You can e-mail them, or post them right here.

Or you can comment with funny questions for my FAQ (or FAQTWNRABSB, as I actually call it) on Butterfly Forest. Check it out here.

Or, if you’d like, you can guest blog on here. You can blog about anything. You can talk about potatoes. You can talk about how you began to collect slinky toys. I don’t really care what you blog about as long as it’s appropriate and clean, and contains more than one word and isn’t the length of a novel. Oh yes, and no posting your own writing…not that I’m against that, this blog just doesn’t seem like the right place to do that sort of thing. But you can talk about your own writing, or about writing in general. Honestly, I really don’t care about the topic except for those two…exceptions. πŸ˜› πŸ˜‰

And WordPress changed their smilies!! Aw…I really miss the old ones. They remind me of LRRH. I miss LRRH, too. 😦

I Promise, I’m Not a Flake. June 24, 2009

Posted by bookbutterfly in authors, blogs and blogging, books, movies, music, quizzes, reviews and reviewing.

I promised I’d do blog maintenance. I didn’t.

I promised I’d write more reviews and post them. I didn’t.

I promised I’d write a blog post about my sophomore year. Didn’t do that either. Didn’t start writing a WORD of it.

And I promised I’d record myself singing my own song. Which I DID do. And failed. My microphone stinks. Terribly.

So besides discovering the fact that I’m a singer-songwriter failure, what DID I do this whole weekend?

I promise, I’m not a flake. But I was busy.

  1. I watched Up, and that’s a HUGE deal for me because I NEVER go to the theaters unless it’s Harry Potter or a movie my family or I was DYING to see. In this case, obviously it was the latter (though I AM going to see a certain movie July 15…PSYCHED!). I don’t think I even saw a single movie at the theater last year. Sigh.
  2. I finished Enna Burning. Now THAT ought to be something worth not blogging for a whole weekend, right? And I have yet to write the review for it (and I pinky-promise I will…before the year is out, at least πŸ˜› ), but allow me to tell you now that I love it. I’m currently obsessing over it still. Kind of like I did after I read Book of a Thousand Days (though I’m not at the point of naming anything having to do with fire, haha), and a bit more than I did after finishing Princess Academy. But I love it. If somehow you randomly popped up onto my blog and are reading this and thinking, “Who the hey is this nerdy freak?”, read it, and you will understand. πŸ˜‰
  3. I started River Secrets. Not that that took so much time (I just started the second chapter πŸ˜› ), but I really, really love it so far. I think the Books of Bayern get better and better by the book!
  4. The biggie…SAT prep classes. I took my first test Monday and pretty much failed (I got a 1700). Then I had to do corrections (do you know how long that would take if you missed that many questions?? Plus, I stayed up until almost three o’ clock in the morning doing it, did some before lunch, and finished up a tiny bit more on the way there), and the next day (Tuesday), I got more homework. I didn’t have class today (phew), and haven’t started homework yet, since it’s not due until next week. But I have been studying and will be starting homework either later today or tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the last class of the week, and I’m praying for now more homework.
  5. The thought of other things I must do…like APUSH notes, which I haven’t even started yet. Sigh.

So, as you can see, I was PLENTY busy. I hope I can still blog, read, review, and have a NORMAL life this summer. As of now, it’s not looking very pretty. I guess I’ll just have to try to do better on Monday tests. πŸ˜›

AND I got a Facebook. I am psyched. That’s another thing that has been diverting my attention away from blogging and stuff. Ha.

P.S. I’m making a Facebook quiz (one that will actually have intellectual substance, unlike most of the ones that you’ll find on there πŸ˜› ) called something akin to “Which Shannon Hale Character Are You Most Like?”. I’m thinking of doing just the leading ladies and our swoonable guys, but I need your help. I just need a few adjectives that you’d describe the following characters’ PERSONALITIES as:

  • Ani/Isi
  • Geric
  • Enna
  • Finn
  • Razo
  • Dasha
  • Miri
  • Peder
  • Dashti
  • Tegus

Can’t wait to hear your responses! πŸ˜€

Posted by bookbutterfly in birthdays, quizzes.

I made a quiz! So happy! I kept getting friends making quizzes of how well they know themselves, that i though it was about time I made one of myself. Only difference between me and my friends is…that I posted it on my blog! And I want my online friends (you guys) to take it, s’il vous plait? It’s right here, just scroll below my Jango jukebox, and click “Take the Quiz!” Let me know what percentage you guys got. I’m curious to find out! πŸ˜›

Edit: I just want to take the time to say happy birthday to the LRRHers whose bdays I missed.

HOPE YOU HAD A FANTABULOUS DAY, HOHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sept. 17)

FELIZ CUMPLEAΓ‘OS, ENNALEE!!!!!!!!!! (Sept. 22)

JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE, REBECCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sept. 30)

Even if you guys never read this, I still want to honor your special days! πŸ˜€

YAY!!!!!! My Result on the Classic Hollywood Actress Quiz June 1, 2008

Posted by bookbutterfly in movies, quizzes.

You’re Like: Audrey Hepburn

Stylish, sophisticated, subdued and always impeccable, both in dress and demeanor, that’s Audrey and that’s you, too. The actress won people over with her onscreen skills and her off-screen charity work helping children in need. She’s the ultimate example of someone who is beautiful inside and out.

Want to rent some films starring Audrey? Check out Roman Holiday, Sabrina, My Fair Lady or Funny Face. Modern-day actresses you have a lot in common with are Natalie Portman, Joy Bryant and Penelope Cruz.

w00t! Audrey Hepburn is my favorite actress of all-time! I’ve seen most all of her movies. I’ve taken quizzes like this before, and I always get her. My mom always says I sorta have the same little chin as she does; Audrey is also my mom’s favorite actress, that she also thought about naming me Audrey! I’m so happy I got Audrey!!!!!!! πŸ˜€ *happy dance*

[edit: the quiz can be taken here.]

Oof, sorry I haven’t been on in forever! In case there are any misgivings against me (which I don’t think there are, knowing you guys, but like I said, just in case), I would just like to clear things up and say that I haven’t been on the computer (ie: Blogger, LRRH) in four days, and I was unable to check anything due to crazy stuff and HW. So sorry, sorry, sorry again! I also have finals coming up, so I’ll probably diappear yet again. I’ll give a shot at scheduled posting.

BTW, although the last post was about my b-day and I had that up forever was totally on accident. I meant to post more on MM after my b-day, but I couldn’t use the computer after that. Even though it may have looked like I was trying to spread the news about my b-day (which I was not at all trying to), it was a complete accident. I only posted that b/c the info on it was funny and I thought that the perfect day to post it would be my b-day. So I’m really sorry about that again. I have to check out y’all’s blogs. *goes off to do so* πŸ˜‰

May 25 May 25, 2008

BB’s Birthdate: May 25

You excel at anything difficult or high tech.
In other words, you’re a total (brilliant) geek.
It’s difficult for you to find people worth spending time with.
Which is probably why you’ll take over the world with your evil robots!Your strength: Your unfailing logic

Your weakness: Loving machines more than people

Your power color: Tan

Your power symbol: Pi

Your power month: July

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?
I think what they meant by the “evil robots” are the LRRHers. πŸ˜‰ Anyhow, this is BB Times’ 25th post! How appropriate, being that this is the 25th of May!
[edit: Darn it, I counted wrong! This is actually the 24th post! *scowls*)
